Oakland Raiders Preseason Week 3: Pregame Notes
By Justin Smith
HURRIES
- Cory James is looking good still. He had a good week of practice and has looked fast and agile in his first two preseason games. With Ben Heeney struggling a touch, James could see more action tonight than expected.
- Jalen Richard is back, and team is super excited. He received high praise from OC Bill Musgrave, though the team still isn’t sure if he’ll be ready to go tomorrow. Still, it’s rare that a UDFA who hasn’t seen any real NFL game action has people this excited.
- Johnny Holton is happy with his preseason so far, but knows he’s got a long way to go. He spoke with Eddie Paskal of Raiders.com about his progress thus far and how Michael Crabtree has been an excellent mentor for him. Holton is the clear leader to win the fifth wide receiver spot at this point.
- Coach Jack Del Rio isn’t letting up on the team about the importance of chemistry, one mind, one goal, and playing for each other. The team is excited to be returning home after opening the preseason with two road games five days apart.
- The Raiders much hyped offensive line? As advertised in the pass blocking department thus far, as per Nathan Jahnke of Pro Football Focus.
