Everything to know for the Oakland Raiders game against the Tennessee Titans.

Coming off a tough home opener loss against the Atlanta Falcons, a game where Derek Carr fought time and again to keep the Raiders with a chance to win, our Raiders travel to Nashville for a rematch of the third preseason game with the Tennessee Titans.

Looking to get back on track against a potent Titans squad, expect to see a tough fought game on both sides.

Tennessee is led by second year star Marcus Mariota. The former Heisman Trophy winner doesn’t have the best supporting staff in regards to coaching, but his playmaking ability gives Tennessee a chance in every game he lines up under center..

After a 3-13 season last year, Tennessee made some smart moves in the draft, stockpiling picks while nabbing a highly regarded OT in Jack Conklin from Michigan State, as well as Heisman Trophy winning star Derrick Henry.

Sunday marks the 49th all-time meeting between the Raiders and the Titans, a history stretching back to the inaugural meeting in 1960 — a 37-22 loss. Tennessee is 20-28 against Oakland over the course of the series, and looks to break a one game losing streak.

Things To Know:

  • Will the defense step up?

With the Oakland defense setting NFL records, and not in ways the fanbase had hoped, will we finally see the Silver and Black step up and shutdown a potent three-headed rushing attack? With Head Coach/former Super Bowl winning DC Jack Del Rio taking over defensive playcalling, we could see some major changes in this Oakland defense, hopefully for good.

  • Will see still see Angry Tay?

Last week we caught glimpses of the Rb we love to call “Angry Tay”. When Latavius Murray begins to run with the violence his 6’3″ 228 pound fram is capable of, good things happen. Clearly, we saw this last week against Atlanta, as the emergence of rookie sensation Jalen Richard and Texas Tech draft pick DeAndre Washington seemed to light a fire under Latavius. Running with violence as well as displaying impressive vision, Latavius must carry that out through the rest of the season if Oakland is to maintain it’s ranking as the #1 offense in the league.

  • Will Karl Joseph make the impact we expect from the 14th overall NFL Draft Pick?

With the news that rookie 1st round draft pick Karl Joseph is set to make his first NFL start some are hoping that he can merely be an “improvement” at one of the two safety spots. But with his pedigree and athletic ability, combined with him seeing relatively ZERO snaps on defense through two weeks, I fully expect KJ to come out guns blazing, and I fear for those WR’s he lines up against. Will this be his national breakout game? Raider Nation prays it is.
