PFF Recap: Grading the Oakland Raiders in Week 3
By Austin Gayle
When Healthy, Menelik Watson Performs Well
Raiders offensive lineman Menelik Watson — a former second-round pick that has struggled with injuries since entering the NFL in 2013 — put forth a noteworthy performance at right tackle in just his 14th start over his four years in the NFL, despite seeing just 21 offensive snaps.
According to PFF, Watson earned the third-highest offensive grade (78.7) prior to leaving the game with — you guessed it — an injury.
Raiders rookie offensive lineman Vadal Alexander, a seventh-round pick out of LSU, replaced Watson (calf) late in the second quarter.
In addition to his above average grade, Watson made an appearance on the Raiders’ highlight reel because of his double-team with offensive guard Gabe Jackson.
If Watson can stay healthy, look for this kind of destruction to continue for Oakland.
