Notable Quotables: Oakland Raiders Week 4
By Justin Smith
Derek Carr
Musgrave may be Del Rio’s trigger man, but Derek Carr is Musgrave’s, and Raider Nation wouldn’t have it any other way. Thus far in the NFL there have been none better, particularly in the clutch.
Carr is 2nd in PFF’s QB rankings, has 6 game-winning drives since the beginning of the 2015 season (most in the NFL in that time) and just gets better every week. He puts in work.
Former Raiders, current Raiders, family members, and even MC Hammer had nothing but praise and love for the signal caller on Twitter, but my personal favorite was professional negativity guru Colin Cowherd’s praise of Carr:
Carr has played so well that he has the implicit trust and belief of all of his players. Fellow young star Khalil Mack had a biblical (or Simpson’s Stonecutters) reference on Carr:
"“DC is the chosen one,” Mack said. “He did it again, he pulled it out for us.”"
Del Rio also had great things to say about Carr, particularly his leadership and poise under pressure.
"“We have confidence that No. 4 can get it done and leads. He’s very poised in making decisions. There was some tough sledding out there against a really good defense, and he just continues to play at a high level. He’s really good getting his feet right to make accurate throws. Smart, tough, accurate. That’s what we have in Derek Carr.”"
