PFF Recap: Oakland Raiders vs. Buffalo Bills

Nate Allen and James Cowser Lifted by Big Plays
Raiders veteran safety Nate Allen and rookie defensive end James Cowser saw action in Sunday’s game against the Bills because the players ahead of them missed plays.
Both players filled in admirably.
Allen replaced rookie safety Karl Joseph after he went down with a toe injury left in the second quarter.
In 40 defensive snaps, Allen registered three combined tackles and an interception.
Due in large part to his pick, Allen earned a 78.2 overall grade, good for the third-highest defensive grade on the team.
Cowser’s big play had a similar impact, as he sacked Bills quarterback Tyrod Taylor for a 10-yard loss on one of the eight plays he took the field.
He was awarded the fourth-highest defensive grade (72.9) for his efforts.
The former Southern Utah product filled in when Mack rested on the sideline for a series of plays.
If Joseph is able to suit up on Thursday, neither of the two players should see an increased snap count against the Kansas City Chiefs this week, but their impact shouldn’t go unnoticed.
