Per Vic Tafur of the San Francisco Chronicle, the Oakland Raiders have agreed to terms with WR/KR Cordarrelle Patterson.

For the second time this offseason, Reggie McKenzie and the Oakland Raiders are on the board. Per Vic Tafur of the SF Chronicle, the team has agreed to terms with wide receive and kick returner Cordarrelle Patterson.

Tafur first reported that the Patterson had returned to the team facility following his visit, and that the two sides were working towards a deal.

Not too long after, Tafur tweeted out an update that the two sides had agreed to terms.

A former first-round pick, Patterson presumably will slot in as the fourth receiver, and should immediately take over kick return duties. His career kick return average of 30.4 yards is the second highest mark in NFL history.

WIth Jalen Richard holding down punt return responsibilities, this combination undoubtedly gives the Raiders one of the best in the NFL.

As far Patterson’s role as a wide receiver, the team clearly loves Seth Roberts, as much as most of the fan base may not like the sound of that — so he’ll surely will remain WR3. So that’s why Patterson might slot in as the fourth wide receiver.

With Andre Holmes taking free agent visits, it seems like the Patterson signing may spell the end of his career in Silver and Black.

Holmes was a fantastic gunner, but in 2016, that is also a role that Patterson excelled in. So Cordarrelle figures to both be able to replace (and improve on) Holmes’ wide receiver production as well as his role as a gunner.

And if the Todd Downing wants to get tricky, he could even use Patterson as a running back from time to time.

All in all, while this may not be a splash signing, it’s certainly a nice pickup. The financial terms are not yet known, but it’s hard to see this deal being very lucrative.
