The Oakland Raiders got through their first weekend of training camp with some noteworthy news coming out of camp.

When the Oakland Raiders took the practice field Saturday and Sunday, they did so without many players expected to contribute this season.  Some were expected to be sidelined, but not all.  The physically unable to perform (PUP) list included Gareon Conley, Jon Feliciano and Jihad Ward.

It was common knowledge that Ward suffered a foot injury in mini camp.  He has been seen wearing a walking boot leading up to the start of camp.  Feliciano has an undisclosed injury, other than that there is little information to share.

Conley being on the PUP comes as a bit of a surprise.  Although, he did miss the final two days of mini camp with an unknown injury, many expected to see him out there.

The non-football injury (NFI) list was also released, and again included a couple surprises.  It was announced earlier in the week that Ben Heeney would be included but to Raiders fans dismay defensive starters Bruce Irvin and Mario Edwards, Jr. were listed.

Michael Gehlken, a Raiders beat writer for the Las Vegas Review Journal, tweeted this out.

It appears in the case of Mario Edwards Jr., the injury could be nothing major, despite the fact it’s not good karma for a player that has been plagued by injuries early in his career.  Edwards has missed 16 games in two seasons with the Raiders with neck and hip injuries.

The only intel that I have been able to gather on the status of Bruce Irvin is that it doesn’t appear to be anything that will keep him out long term.
