Oakland Raiders: 5 players to watch vs. Tennessee Titans
By John Buhler
Amari Cooper has worked on his body in the offseason to add some major upper body muscle. This will hopefully allow Cooper to become a more dynamic receiver in the passing game than he already is. Cooper is used to beating defensive backs with his speed and route-running ability. Now he can win with strength at the line of scrimmage.
While he is only entering year three in the league, Cooper has already emerged as one of the 10 best receivers in football. Though he’s not top-tier yet, his versatility and ability to make a play on the ball could have him near the top-five by the end of the season, especially if he is able to add a new wrinkle or two to his game.
Like Oakland, Tennessee has had it issues in the secondary. Though they Titans made some serious overhauls to its secondary this offseason, this will be the first meaningful game the Tennessee back-end will be playing together. Expect a great afternoon out of Cooper in this game.
Though cornerback Adoree’ Jackson looks promising coming out of USC and Logan Ryan was a solid cornerback for the New England Patriots, the Titans just don’t have the man power to contain the Raiders in the nickel. A 100-yard receiving day is definitely in play Week 1 for Cooper.
