Oakland Raiders: 5 players to watch vs. New York Jets
By John Buhler
Raiders quarterback Derek Carr did exactly what he needed to do to lead the Raiders to victory in Week 1. He completed 22 of 32 passes (68.8 percent) for 262 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. Carr had a quarterback rating of 114.3, while averaging 8.19 yards per attempt.
His 19-yard strike to wide receiver Seth Roberts to essentially put the game out of reach in the second half was a thing of beauty. However, there were times where the Raiders offense looked a tad out of sync. Nissan Stadium was rocking, as the Titans faithful packed the house to see what should be a good team in 2017 play their first home game.
Winning on the road is tough in any sport. Now that the first cross-country road trip is out of the way, look for Carr to really go off on the Jets in Week 2. Playing in front of that home crowd will have the entire offense playing as good as it can in the early part of the season.
Expect offensive coordinator Todd Downing to throw out at least one innovative passing concept to throw the New York defense for a loop. Carr will have his first signature play of the season against the Jets defense. This looks to be a game where Carr can complete over 65 percent of his passes for over 300 yards and three touchdowns.
