The Oakland Raiders dismantled the New York Jets on Sunday afternoon in Week 2, 45-20. Here are all the highlights, the game recap and the final score.

The Oakland Raiders went to work on the New York Jets in Week 2, clobbering them to the tune of 45-20. Oakland improves to 2-0 on the year, while New York falls flat on its face to 0-2. The Raiders won with defense last week against the Tennessee Titans. Though the defense was solid again for the Silver and Black, just look at what the offense did against Gang Green.

The Raiders were relentless in their pursuit of the end zone. Six times did the Raiders score a touchdown. Quarterback Derek Carr would find wide receiver Michael Crabtree on three separate occasions. Running backs Marshawn Lynch and Jalen Richard would have rushing touchdowns. Even wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson was able to find pay dirt as a runner in this game.

Simply put, the Raiders’ offense was humming thanks to great play calling by new offensive coordinator Todd Downing. He and Carr are 100 percent on the same page. After an inconsistent game offensively for the Silver and Black last week, it was nice to see the Raiders stick it to the Jets to prove a point: that Oakland is ready to do big things this season.

This offense is explosive and versatile. The Raiders offensive line may be the very best in football. Now that the defense can hang with the offense, who knows how good this Raiders’ team can get. While it was only the Jets at home on Sunday, you have to appreciate how well the team executed in the second half. It was a game really until Richard found pay dirt to make it 35-13 Raiders.

The Raiders are 2-0 for the first time since the 2002 NFL season. That year, Oakland made it all the way to the Super Bowl. Could this year’s Raiders team be in line to get to Minneapolis? With more games like this, let’s hope so.

Three Stars

  1. Michael Crabtree: Crabtree had six catches for 80 yards and three touchdowns.
  2. Derek Carr: Carr completed 23 of 28 passes for 230 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions. He was never sacked, averaged 8.2 yards per attempt and had a quarterback rating of 136.6.
  3. Khalil Mack: Mack had four tackles, two solo, one quarterback sack and one for a loss of yardage.
