There’s a rule in this draft: if his last name is Chubb, go ahead and draft the guy. Though college football fans are more familiar with his cousin in Georgia Bulldogs running back Nick Chubb, the pick here for the Raiders is North Carolina State Wolfpack edge defender Bradley Chubb.

He jumps off the television screen. We haven’t seen a defensive end talent look this good in Raleigh since Mario Williams went No. 1 overall to the Houston Texans in 2006. Chubb is a highly productive and highly instinctive player for the Wolfpack. His game will translate marvelously to the professional level.

Third Round

USC might have lost to Washington State last night, but linebacker Cameron Smith could be in play for the Raiders in the third round. You know how was a former linebacker for the Trojans? Raiders head coach Jack Del Rio. If Smith plays well for a 10-win Trojans team, he’ll be a top-100 pick the Raiders will definitely need to inquire on.

Playing in the Pac-12 means that Smith will have gone against some of the very best passers college football has to offer. Those guys include Josh Rosen, Luke Falk and Jake Browning should the Trojans meet the Washington Huskies in the Pac-12 Championship. It may not be Smith at the end of the day, but the third round feels like a great spot for the Raiders to take a linebacker in 2018.
