5 Oakland Raiders to watch vs. Los Angeles Chargers

While it has not been a good year for Reggie Nelson, or really most members of the Raiders’ secondary, he has an opportunity to right the ship on Sunday when Oakland takes on the Chargers. This is because Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers will throw some interceptions.
The Raiders are shockingly one of three teams in the NFL that do not have an interception on the season. That’s unacceptable, but it is reality. The two other teams are the Chicago Bears and the Miami Dolphins. Keep in mind that Miami didn’t play in Week 1. Oakland has to start forcing turnovers to take back control of its season.
Nelson could bait Rivers into making a terrible throw on Sunday. Rivers will let the occasional pass sail on him, as well as toss up a lame duck ripe for being picked off. We have to believe that this will be the game that the Raiders come up with their first interception of the season.
Given that he plays free safety in the middle of the field, look for Nelson to put his ballhawking abilities to work on Sunday. Oakland may not force a lot of punts, but if the defense can force a few turnovers, this team could be 3-3 and very much back in the AFC playoffs mix heading into Thursday Night Football in Week 7.
