Giorgio Tavecchio is feeling the pressure of a Sebastian Janikowski return

Hate to say it, but had the Raiders not gotten that game-winning touchdown from Derek Carr to Michael Crabtree, there would be a lot of heat on rookie kicker Giorgio Tavecchio. While he had been rock solid in the first six weeks of the season, this was easily his worst game as a professional.

Tavecchio missed two field goals that the Raiders probably would have needed to sneak this one out, a 45-yarder and a 53-yarder that was blocked. He did find himself and hit a 26-yarder in the fourth quarter. However, his game-winning PAT almost didn’t go through the uprights. Might he be feeling some pressure?

Well, long-time Raiders kicker Sebastian Janikowski could be eligible to come off injured reserve after Week 8. Janikowski went on IR to start the year with a herniated disc in his back. Oakland signed Tavecchio and he had been good for the first month or so.

While Tavecchio hasn’t played poor enough to lose his job to Janikowski, you can tell that Janikowski’s possible return might be getting to him. He missed a PAT in Week 6 versus the Los Angeles Chargers, albeit a bad snap. Two missed field goals and a false start penalty on Thursday night wasn’t great either.
