Raiders 2018 NFL Draft: 5 ILBs to target in the first two rounds
By Brad Weiss
During his time with Alabama, Rashaan Evans helped lead the team to two national championships. While he was more of a bit player on the first one, last season Evans became a serious team leader, being named one of the team’s captains.
Being named a captain for head coach Nick Saban is quite the honor, and it is a testament to how much he has grown as a player. Evans was an All-SEC selection last season, and he has compared himself to former New England Patriots linebacker Dont’a Hightower.
Evans has already met with the Raiders, so he is definitely somebody on the team’s radar. While he can play the outside linebacker position as well, his skill set really translate on the inside at the next level, and his 6-foot-3, 234 pound frame should allow him to be a menace in there.
Last season, Evans racked up 74 tackles for the Crimson Tide, while also getting to the quarterback six times. He is a big football IQ guy, and is a very impressive young man, who fits the mold of what the Raiders need to bring in this offseason.
