2018 Raiders NFL Draft: Top 5 first round draft picks the last ten years
5. Michael Huff, 2006 NFL Draft
The last player picked in the NFL draft is titled “Mr. Irrelevant”. The same goes for this player at this spot of the ranking. It’s more of a filler spot than anything.
Safety Michael Huff out of the University of Texas caps this all off. There’s really nothing bad or good to say about Huff. His game ending angel interception against the Houston Texans following the death of Al Davis was his peak Raider moment.
Other than that magical play, can anyone name another spectacular highlight of his? Huff clearly wasn’t first round talent, though he did spend a good deal of time as a Raider.
The Raiders batting average in the first round is a gruesome .200. Khalil Mack and Amari Cooper are the only real hits. As much abuse as general manager Reggie McKenzie endures, a lot of it is uncalled for.
Before McKenzie, the question that was always asked leading up to the draft was “How are the Raiders going to screw this up?”

McKenzie has definitely had misses, and the jury is still out on 2017 first round pick Gareon Conley. All signs point to him being healthy enough to be the team’s top cornerback next season, so he could easily jump into this ranking after the 2018 campaign.
