The AFC West made their mark in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft, and we take a look at those players taken on Thursday night.

The first round of the 2018 NFL Draft was filled with excitement, and for a lot of teams, they really surprised with their picks. The AFC West got the party going early, as the Denver Broncos picked in the top-5, but the division did not pick again until the Oakland Raiders at No. 15.

Each year, it seems like each draft tries to one-up each other in surprising picks and trades. With Baker Mayfield going 1st overall the Cleveland Browns, mock drafts were quickly thrown out the window. From then on, there seemed to be nothing but jaw drop after jaw drop.

For the AFC West, in particular, there was nothing but surprises. From players dropping into a team’s lap, to a player going probably higher than we thought, and even a trade for a veteran wide receiver.

While the Raiders, Broncos, and Los Angeles Chargers picked on Thursday, the Kansas City Chiefs did not  have a pick due to the trade they made with the Buffalo Bills during the 2017 NFL Draft. In this piece, we look at the first round for the division, and how they make sense for each team.
