Walter Football Part 1: Pick No. 22, Rodney Anderson, RB, Oklahoma

One of the better website for all things mock drafts is WalterFootball.com, which seems to run these things on a weekly basis. They have already taken a couple stabs at who the Raiders will take in the 2019 NFL Draft, and like the Sporting News, they have the Raiders picking in a spot that would indicate they make the playoffs this season.

With the No. 22 overall pick, the site has the Silver and Black selecting Oklahoma running back Rodney Anderson. The speedster was arguably the best running back in college football towards the end of the season, eclipsing 100 yards in five of his last seven games.

In addition, the sophomore rushed for over 200 yards against a very good Georgia defense in the Rose Bowl Game during the College Football Playoff.

Here is what the site said about the pick:

"The Raiders have a couple of aging running backs on their roster, and it’s possible they might want to move on from Marshawn Lynch and Doug Martin next spring."

My Take

The running back position is one that is going to be look at very closely in 2019, as the Raiders decided against drafting a back in a very deep class this past April. Anderson does a lot of good things with the football, and if he is consistent this Fall, he could be one of the top running backs on the big board next year, so I like him to the Raiders this late in round one.
