The AFC West division has some of the best quarterbacks in football, and for two teams, they lean on a new starter in 2018.

The quarterback position is the most important role in all of sports, and the AFC West has four very good ones that will line up under center in 2018. Last season, the Kansas City Chiefs won the division behind the strong playoff of Alex Smith, who will be replaced in KC by Patrick Mahomes in 2018.

With Mahomes under center for the Chiefs, it will be interesting to see how he fares in his first season as a starter. On the other side of the coin, the Los Angeles Chargers will once again deploy Philip Rivers as their starter, as he enters his 15th season with the team and 13th as the starter.

In Oakland, Derek Carr looks to be healthy, and  the organization went out and got him a bunch of new weapons this offseason. He also plays behind one of the best offensive lines in football, and with a quarterback guru at head coach in Jon Gruden, he could be in for a monster season.

Finally, Case Keenum will start his first season with the Denver Broncos, after leading the Minnesota Vikings to the NFC title game last season. The Broncos were terrible at quarterback last season, so their fans have to be excited about Keenum coming aboard for 2018.

In this piece, we take a look at each team’s depth chart at the quarterback position.
