Is this Derek Carr’s best group of weapons?

In 2017, the top receiver for the Raiders was a tight end, as Jared Cook led the team in yards. Both Amari Cooper and Michael Crabtree took a major step back in production, which led to Derek Carr putting up the second-lowest yardage year of his career.

In addition, his 22 touchdown passes were his second-worst total as well, as the number only eclipsed the 21 TDs he threw as a rookie. Those numbers are certain to be better in 2018, as the team went out and added some talented player to the wide receiver group.

Outside of Cooper in 2018, Carr will also have Jordy Nelson and Martavis Bryant at the top of the depth chart at wideout. In addition, guys like Ryan Switzer and Marcell Ateman have been added this offseason  to give Carr the best collection of weapons he has had heading into year No. 5.

Carr is coming off a very mediocre season by his standards, but the pieces seem to be in place for him to have a monster 2018 campaign. Players, including him, are going to have to stay healthy, but the talent around him is outstanding, and he has the right head coach and offensive coordinator in place.
