Quarterback depth chart

The top of the Raiders depth chart at quarterback is set in stone, as Derek Carr is going to be the starter in Oakland for the foreseeable future. The issue the last two seasons has been that Carr has gotten injured, so having a quality backup is a very serious necessity in 2018.

This offseason, the Raiders brought back EJ Manuel, who started in place of Carr when he broke his back early in the 2017 campaign. In addition to Manuel, Connor Cook is also back, and they head into training camp as the only other quarterbacks on the Raiders roster.

It will be an interesting thing to see how this depth chart works out, as both Manuel and Cook seem to be in the running for the No. 2 job. Manuel may have the lead right now, based on experience, but Gruden loved Cook when he put him through his quarterback camp when he was getting ready for the draft.

Cook started the Raiders playoff game two years ago, but understandably was destroyed by the Houston Texans. Manuel has been a starter in the league before, so it is anybody’s guess who will be the No. 2 guy right now, but one thing is for sure, they better be ready to play if Carr goes down for the third straight season.
