The trades

The Oakland Raiders had their share of trades as well this offseason, sending away some veteran talent for draft picks, and a draft pick for a veteran talent. In addition, the team sent a defensive end to Dallas for a return man, as Gruden and company continued to round out the roster.

Here are the trades that went down over the past few months:

  • Traded WR Cordarrelle Patterson and sixth-round selection (210th overall) to the New England Patriots for a fifth-round selection (159th overall) on March 19.
  • Traded FB Jamize Olawale and sixth-round selection (192nd overall) to the Dallas Cowboys for a fifth-round selection (173rd overall) on March 20.
  • Traded third-round selection (79th overall) to Pittsburgh Steelers for WR Martavis Bryant during the 2018 NFL Draft.
  • Traded DE Jihad Ward to the Dallas Cowboys for WR Ryan Switzer right after the draft.

Switzer should replace Patterson when it comes to the return game, and Bryant is going to be the No. 3 wide receiver for the Raiders this season. While Olawale went to Dallas to be their fullback, the Raiders got Dallas’ fullback in Keith Smith, so it was basically a swap.
