Special Teams

Eddy Pineiro, K

Oakland was quick to grab Eddy Pineiro as an undrafted free agent after the 2018 NFL Draft, and he will have every opportunity to grab the starting kicker role this summer. So far, he has outkicked fellow kicker Giorgio Tavecchio, and by the time the team plays the Rams in Week 1, he will have beaten out Tavecchio for the starting job.

Johnny Townsend, P

When the Raiders released Marquette King this summer, they knew they needed to bring in someone to take the role of starting punter. In the fifth round of the 2018 NFL Draft, the Raiders got their man, selecting Johnny Townsend, who has looked every bit the part of NFL punter so far in camp.

The punter job is Townsend’s to have, as there are no other punters in camp this summer. He has a tremendous foot, and will have no problem filling the big shoes left by King.

Drew Scott, LS

Scott is basically a camp body at this point, as Andrew DePaola was brought in to replace Jon Condo as the long snapper this season.

Final Thoughts

The Raiders did a nice job with the amount of talented rookies they have in camp this summer. Some of them will be fixtures for this team every Sunday, while other will see their name fade away from the roster before September 10.
