Conley listed as a starter

Gareon Conley is expected to be the team’s starting cornerback this season, and lead a defensive backfield that has a ton of new faces. Coming into training camp, Conley looked all the part, coming back from his shin injury last season to look like a player who could be in for a breakout season.

However, the injury bug struck Conley once again, and he has not practiced since the first day of training camp. Still, when the team released their depth chart on Monday, there was Conley sitting with the first team, named as a starter alongside free agent pickup Rashaan Melvin.

The fact is, Conley may not be ready to go in time for the Raiders matchup with the Detroit Lions on Friday night, so one of the men on the second team will have to step up. The two guys listed with the second team are Daryl Worley and Leon Hall, and with how much Worley has played with the ones, he would likely be the starter if Melvin cannot go.

It has been a sad run for Conley since the team drafted him in the first round last year, and the hope is he can get on the field as soon as possible. He is not expected to miss any time during the regular season, but the Raiders are hoping he can get back in a few weeks and start practicing with his teammates.
