New look secondary

One area the team needed to seriously upgrade this offseason was in the secondary, and the Raiders did just that leading into training camp. Rashaan Melvin will be the top cornerback on Friday with Gareon Conley out, and you can expect to see a lot of Leon Hall and Daryl Worley early on.

In addition, the safety position will have a new look with the first team, as Marcus Gilchrist has moved himself up the depth chart past Reggie Nelson. Karl Joseph is the holdover in the defensive backfield, as he started all 16 games for the Silver and Black last season.

Erik Harris is having an incredible camp, and Nick Nelson is going to be someone to keep an eye on in his first NFL preseason game. Obi Melifonwu had a solid practice on Monday, but has sat out the last two days, and his status for Friday night is up in the air as of Thursday.
