Growth of KoltonMiller

When the Raiders drafted Kolton Miller in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft, many experts raised their eyebrows at the pick. Miller was not considered a first round talent, and taking him as high as No. 15 seemed like a reach at the time.

Since then, Miller has shown that he has the ability to be a starting left tackle in the league, and that is where he could end up starting in Week 1. Miller has looked so good this summer that when Donald Penn came off the PUP list on Tuesday, he was moved to right tackle, instead of on the left side where he has been a perennial Pro Bowl player.

In Miller, they have a young guy who seems to get better every day, and the coaching staff really likes him. Having both Penn and Miller as the bookends of this line definitely makes it elite, as now the Raiders do not have to deploy guys like Breno Giacomini, David Sharpe, or Ian Silberman at the right tackle position.

It will be interesting to see how Penn adjust to the right side, and if Miller can hold his own in a real regular season game. Whatever happens, he has been better than advertised, and the Raiders look to have gotten their first round pick right.
