Who starts at right tackle

The Raiders got some big news this week, as Pro Bowl left tackle Donald Penn finally came off the PUP list. In addition, Penn signed a more “team-friendly” deal, freeing up around $3 million in cap space this season, while adding some guaranteed money for the big fella.

Since coming to the Raiders, Penn has been the starting left tackle, tasked with protecting Carr’s blindside. He has done a tremendous job in doing so, but in 2018, he appears to be headed to the right side of the line, as rookie Kolton Miller looks to cement his place as the starting left tackle in year one.

On Saturday, there is a chance we will see Penn for a bit, but the Raiders are not going to rush him back to too big of a workload. Against Detroit, Ian Silberman got the start at right tackle, and that could be the case again on Saturday, though it all depends on what the team decides to do with Penn, who returned on Tuesday.

Breno Giacomini is battling an injury, as was Brandon Parker, who will make his NFL debut on Saturday. David Sharpe has also been working in a bunch all over the line, so who trots out at right tackle will a mystery up until kickoff.
