Harris earning his spot

One of my favorite stories this summer has been Erik Harris, who made an early impression on the coaching staff, and continues to move up the depth chart. There is no reason why he cannot be a starter in this league, even this season, as he has the swagger to be a solid safety in this league.

The Raiders needed help at the safety position this offseason, and they brought in Marcus Gilchrist for depth. 2017 second-rounder Obi Melifonwu was supposed to come back healthy in 2018, after sitting out nearly his entire rookie season due to a hip injury.

Obi suffered a setback during camp, and it is looking like a long-shot he will even make the team. In Harris, the Raiders have a guy who could definitely be classified as a “Gruden’s Grinder,” and he has really taken advantage of every opportunity he has been  given this summer.
