Safety (4): Karl Joseph, Reggie Nelson, Erik Harris, Marcus Gilchrist

The safety position was another area the Raiders wanted to upgrade this offseason, and the four guys who should make the 53-man roster do upgrade the position. Karl Joseph and Reggie Nelson will be returning, after starting all 16 games last season, but Nelson’s time in the starting lineup is questionable.

Erik Harris has been a monster this summer, and should have no problem making it through the final cuts. While he has been injured this past week, Marcus Gilchrist was brought in here to provide depth in the secondary, and there is no way he does not make the roster if he is healthy enough to go.

The word is that the Raiders have reached out to George Iloka, who was recently released by the Cincinnati Bengals, and played under Guenther there. If he signs, it certainly shakes things up a bit at the safety position, as you have to think he would be a starter alongside Joseph.
