Cornerback (6): Gareon Conley, Rashaan Melvin, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, Leon Hall, Nick Nelson, Antonio Hamilton
Heading into Week 1, the Raiders finally have a solid starting tandem at the cornerback position. Gareon Conley and Rashaan Melvin are two guys who can shut down one side of the field, and for once, Raiders fans do not have to cringe every time an opposing quarterback drops back to pass.
Behind those two will be Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, who recently joined the team, and rookie Nick Nelson, who has elite coverage skills. Daryl Worley was supposed to be on the 53-man roster, but his status is up in the air, as the Raiders may be without him for the first four games of the season.
During the broadcast on Thursday night, former Raiders quarterback Rich Gannon stated that Daryl Worley is facing a four-game suspension, which is due to some legal issues he faced this offseason. That opens the window for guys like Leon Hall and Antonio Hamilton, and even without Worley, this cornerback group is vastly superior than the product the Raiders put on the field last season.
