As I look down the Oakland Raiders 53 man roster for the 2018 NFL season, there are names I see that make me smile and others that make me shake my head.

Jon Gruden has put together a very interesting roster that is about as unpredictable as possible.

Can these young players step up and perform quickly? And will these veterans recapture their past form?

Obviously, opinions can change throughout the season, but at the moment here are some of the players I’m in on, and players that I’m out on going into week 1.

In: Gareon Conley

With Gareon Conley appearing to be healthy, it is time for him to begin performing like a first round pick. And I think he will do just that in 2018. Conley has all the physical tools to be a top-tier corner in the league, and with much better coaching this season he will be put in a position to succeed.

If he can become a shutdown corner, it will be huge for Oakland. The secondary has been a massive problem for years now, and there is no way Oakland will ever improve on defense if the coverage doesn’t get tighter. With Conley and Rashaan Melvin on the opposite side, I think the Raiders can have one of the breakout corner duos in the league this season.
