Out: Seth Roberts

At this point who is actually in on Seth Roberts?

Well, I guess Jon Gruden is since he kept Roberts on the roster and seems to have a decent size role for him as the starting slot receiver.

I’m not sure this was the plan when the offseason started considering the Raiders traded for both Martavis Bryant and Ryan Switzer. However, after releasing the former and re-trading the later, we are right back where we started with Roberts.

The most natural shot to take at Roberts is that he can’t catch, but that actually was not true last season. He caught 43 of his 65 targets and that 66.2 catch rate was actually the best on the team in 2017.

My issue lies with the fact that the Raiders were clearly trying to replace him this offseason and now that their other options failed, Gruden is trying to prop him up again. Which I just am not buying at all.

Roberts spent most of the offseason camp either injured or working with non-starting units according to reporters close to the team. So to pretend like they expect big things from him seem sort of disingenuous to me.
