This wasn’t the home opener that head coach Jon Gruden wanted in his return to the NFL with the Raiders, and here are three things that we learned.

Monday night football: The tale of two halves. That’s how this game is going to be known for after the Raiders 33-13 defeat to the Los Angeles Rams. The score isn’t indicative of how the Raiders played, at least not in the first half. The team held their own and were actually leading the Rams 10-13 going into halftime. It felt so good being able to watch this team being properly coached.

That “so good” feeling went away about midway through the fourth quarter. It felt like a meltdown by the Raiders. The defense couldn’t slow down the Rams and Todd Gurley. The offense didn’t do them any favors since they couldn’t stay on the field. The Raiders were shutout and allowed 23 unanswered points to be scored on them.

The Raiders second half was a complete 180 from the first. So what happened? What is their to takeaway from this disappointing loss?

Here are the three things we learned from Monday night football: The tale of two halves.
