Raiders need more from Irvin

When the Raiders traded away Khalil Mack on September 1, it was obvious  to everyone in the organization that this team was going to struggle getting a pass rush. While Jon Gruden has said they will get better, and figure out a way to get more pressure, the fact is they are not getting any push right now, and it is costing them wins.

Bruce Irvin was supposed to be the saving grace for the Raiders after losing Mack, and he looked every bit the part of a defensive captain during the summer. However, the Raiders are just not getting enough from him, and late in the fourth quarter on Sunday, he appeared to be giving less than 100 percent effort.

Irvin is a stellar player, and he should be able to turn this thing around. The Raiders have a strong defensive interior after bringing in Maurice Hurst via the draft, and guys like Johnathan Hankins and Clinton McDonald really stepped up in the absence of PJ Hall and Justin Ellis this past weekend.
