How could a player’s stock improve when they didn’t even play. Well, it’s simple. Defensive coordinator Paul Guenther and head coach Jon Gruden have yet to truly establish who their preferred cornerbacks are. Gareon Conley got zero snaps on Sunday and Rashaan Melvin only got seven.

Daryl Worley and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie played nearly all of the snaps along with Leon Hall. However, Gruden mentioned that Nelson has a real shot at playing coming out of the bye week and that he plans on “throwing him into the litter”.

Whether that is good or bad, it sounds like there is upcoming opportunity for the promising rookie cornerback. Hopefully he can take advantage of it.
