The Cooper void was apparent
In what overshadowed an eventual horrendous day for the Oakland Raiders, reports circulated that a fire sale was essentially going on in Oakland as the Raiders were fielding offers for some of their young assets, one of them being Amari Cooper. The storyline took a dark turn as Cooper was lost for the game after suffering a big hit in the first quarter.
What we saw afterwards might be a preview of the rest of the season (given the assumption that a Cooper trade does happen). Carr’s longest pass of the day was to Jalen Richard for 21 yards. Jordy Nelson had just two catches for six yards, and neither Seth Roberts nor Martavis Bryant (the white tiger) made an impact.
It’s tough to see this receiving corps do anything if Cooper is somehow not involved. It’s been emphasized that the Raiders need to make Amari Cooper a focal point in the passing game, but that idea might be tossed out the door and Cooper himself alongside with it.
