Oakland Raiders: What to do with the 2019 free agents

Special Teams

Dwayne Harris, Returner

Dwayne Harris was brought in to be a special teams stud for the Raiders this season, and he has already been named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week once. The Raiders could bring back Harris next season, but he is 31-years old, and the team may want to let someone else handle the return duties moving forward.

Opinion: Let him walk

Mike Nugent, Kicker

Mike Nugent was signed to be the team’s kicker when Eddy Pineiro was placed on injured reserve, and there will be no room for him on this roster once the season comes to an end. Pineiro is  going to be the kicker moving forward, but Nugent could be retained for the summer as a mentor.

Opinion: Bring him back

Matt McCrane, Kicker

Matt McCrane does have a game-winning field goal on his resume this season, but he is not the long-term solution at the kicker position in Oakland. McCrane won the job when Mike Nugent was placed on IR with an injured hip, but has been wildly inconsistent, and it will not be re-signe

Trent Sieg, Long Snapper

The Raiders brought in Trent Sieg when Andrew DePaola went on the injured reserve. DePaola is going to be the team’s long snapper next season, which means Sieg is  going to be shown the door. He has done a decent job, and should get a job elsewhere.
