5 reasons the Oakland Raiders won the Amari Cooper trade
By Brad Weiss
Cooper was plagued by inconsistency recently
Whichever way you want to slice it, Amari Cooper has been one of the more frustrating players on offense over the last season and a half. Some games, he looks like one of the best wide receivers in the league, and others, you would barely know he was lining up for nearly every offensive snap.
The Raiders have made no chance in quarterback since Cooper came aboard, and his relationship with Derek Carr has always been viewed as a good one. For some reason, Cooper can have games where he is targeted double-digit times, hauls in eight-to-ten balls, and goes for 100 yards, and others, he is only targeted a handful of times.
In order for a team to give a wide receiver premium money, like Cooper was expecting, you need to get consistent play each week. That is why guys like Antonio Brown and Odell Beckham Jr. get the big contract, and at this point in Cooper’s career, he is just not there yet.
