Derek Carr

It would not shock me even the slightest if Derek Carr is traded before the trade deadline. At this point, why not just fully blow it up? It’s not like evaluating Derek this season is going to be fair. He now has one of the worst receiver groups in the league and is without Marshawn Lynch for the rest of the season. The team is starting two offensive tackles who have looked horrible in their last two games. We all saw the Seattle game in London. Carr hardly had any time on the majority of his drop backs.

With all these trades and moves that aren’t benefiting Derek, they’re just signs that Gruden is okay with moving on from him. How would anyone expect him to get better when there’s nothing around him? It’s not like Gruden’s play calling has been on point this season. Even if he doesn’t trade Carr before the trade deadline, I’d bet he does it after the season. It would be yet another terrible trade on the part of Gruden, whose true colors continue to be revealed with each action.

Everything Gruden has said about Carr means nothing. He would gladly trade him if it equated to a couple of high round picks. Whether a team would actually pull the trigger on a trade for Derek would be a mystery. He would easily be a major upgrade to a few teams in this league. The New York Giants are the most glaring team, especially after watching the dumpster fire that is Eli Manning.

Would they be willing to give up a first rounder? What about the other obvious team the Jacksonville Jaguars? That fit would be the most ideal, but it’s tough seeing the Jaguars acquire Carr’s huge contract on top of what they just gave to Blake Bortles.

Regardless of who actually inquires about Derek Carr, you can almost assume that he’s gone within the year. I for one do not want to see that because I think he’s still a fantastic quarterback. He’s just constantly being dealt a new poor hand every season. You also have to factor in, after all these moves and changes, does Derek even want to be here anymore?

Should he himself advocate for a trade? Yes, I believe he should. Why stay in this dysfunction of a franchise? It’s going to be another few years before they can start to seriously compete again and that’s assuming that Gruden will nail the majority of his picks. By that time he’ll already be in years eight and nine, which I’m sure Gruden would already start looking for his replacement by then. It’s just unfortunate that Carr is constantly in this situation.

It makes me kind of hope that he does end up on another team because the situation will be much brighter than this. Once again, don’t be shocked if you wake up this week and find out Derek Carr has been traded. If not this week, then surely during the offseason.
