Indianapolis Colts at Oakland Raiders: 5 takeaways from Week 8

Doug Martin has some tread left
With Marshawn Lynch being placed on injured reserve, the Raiders turned to another veteran running back in Doug Martin on Sunday. Leading up to the game, Martin said he still has a lot of tread left on the tires, and he proved himself to be correct against the Colts.
Putting the huge fumble in the fourth quarter aside, the Muscle Hamster ran well against the Colts, rushing for 5.5 yards per carry. He also ran hard, making plays happen up the middle, and on the outside, and was a perfect compliment to Jalen Richard, who led the team in receptions.
If Martin runs as well as he did on Sunday, the Raiders should have no problem moving the ball on the ground against the 49ers on Thursday night. He definitely showed he can still tote the rock at the NFL level, and played a big role in the Raiders offense being explosive at times this past weekend.
