Raiders run defense is atrocious

For as well as the Raiders ran the ball at times Sunday, the defense could not stop the Colts run game, and it was laughable at times. In fact, Marlon Mack set a career high for rushing yards in a game, as he went for 132 yards against the Raiders, who could not get a stop all game long.

Not only did Mack have a big game against Oakland, but as did his backup, Nyheim Hines, who rushed for 78 yards on only 11 carries. If you are counting at home, that is better than seven yards per carry, and as a team, the Colts rushed for 222 yards on 40 carries, taking advantage of a serious weakness on this Raiders defense.

Oakland needs to get this fixed, and they should be able to do so, as they are very young along the defensive line. This may continue to be a weakness this season, but rookies PJ Hall and Maurice Hurst will eventually be able to stop the run, and once Justin Ellis comes back, that should help bolster this run defense moving forward.
