Derek Carr is a franchise quarterback

There was a time during Sunday’s loss to the Indianapolis Colts, that Derek Carr looked like the player who could have won the NFL Most Valuable Player Award only two seasons ago. Sure, it has been a bumpy ride the last year and a half, but he is a legitimate franchise quarterback, and should be able to play out his contract with the Raiders.

Carr not only got the job done with his arm, but also his legs, as he rushed for his first career rushing touchdown on Sunday. The fifth-year starter was stepping up in the pocket, making the pass rush miss, and then firing missiles all over the place against Indianapolis.

The trade deadline better come and go with Carr in the Silver and Black, because he showed on Sunday what kind of damage he can do when he is comfortable in the pocket. This Raiders offensive line should continue to get better, and while pieces may be moved later today, Carr had better not be one of them.
