Carr faces unfair criticism

On the play that ended the game and perfectly summed up the 2018 Oakland Raiders season, Derek Carr threw the ball into the ground on a fourth down screen play designed for Jalen Richard. Immediately after the media went ablaze in criticism: Why didn’t Carr look to throw literally anywhere else? Why did he just give up on the play? What was Carr thinking?

Jon Gruden took some of the blame for the play call in answering to the post game media, but the fact is that going forward it will always be Derek Carr taking the blame and criticism for this disastrous season, whether it be warranted or not.
