Marcell Ateman’s impressive debut

After Martavis Bryant’s season came to an end and as Jordy Nelson found himself hobbled and eventually sidelined for Sunday’s action, it was Marcell Ateman who heard his name called to help a receiving corps that has been getting thinner and thinner. Ateman heard the call, and safe to say he delivered.

After spending much of his time on the practice squad Ateman finished the day as the Raiders’ leading receiver, four catches on five targets for 50 yards. His longest of the day was 32 yards, and though many expected the receivers to struggle it was Ateman who rose to the occasion on the road.

The rookie seventh rounder looks to be a young bright spot and should his play continue to improve as the weeks go on he could eventually join Hurst as another gem picked up by the Raiders in the draft.
