Oakland Raiders at Arizona Cardinals: 5 takeaways from Week 11
Gruden and Carr’s overblown discussion
Fans weren’t even finished watching Sunday’s game before another media headline made its way amongst the internet and social media world. Gruden and Carr apparently came to a heated discussion on the sideline after a disappointing three-and-out, with some observers noting that a player had to restrain Gruden.
The truth of the matter? It was completely overblown, and not long after Gruden and Carr were all smiles, eventually coming away with their second win of the season. Perhaps more notable out of this situation? That Gruden and Carr were heated towards each other in the first place.
Gruden has a reputation of challenging his players to the brink, with the larger goal of inspiring them to channel their peak performance on the field. Apparently (according to Gruden and Carr) this hasn’t been the first time this has happened between them, but I don’t think I’m the only one who agrees that it was actually a pleasant sight to see the interaction on the sideline. It shows they have the competitive juices flowing through them, and if they can translate that to the field then that’s all fans are asking for at this point of the season.
