One of the bigger holes on this Raiders team is at the safety position, where the team has trotted out guys like Reggie Nelson, Erik Harris, and Marcus Gilchrist this season. While Harris is a nice story, and Gilchrist got a pick this past weekend, the position group has to be considered one of the worst in football.

Back in 2016, the Raiders drafted West Virginia safety Karl Joseph in the first round, and he has not impressed this coaching staff at all. However, he has been playing better as of late, coming up and making big hits, and is starting to gain the respect of the coaching staff based on his snap count the last two games.

Still, the team needs more playmakers at the position, and in a 2019 NFL Draft class where there is not much talent, the Raiders could get one of the better safeties in the class in the third round. Taylor Rapp from Washington is a guy who can straight up make plays, and on this roster, would slide right in as a starter in year one for the Raiders in 2019.
