Passing attack MIA
The passing attack was inconsistent at best, missing in action at worst, as Derek Carr completed under 50 percent of his passes for a 74.9 quarterback rating. Though he didn’t throw an interception, he was plagued with plenty of dropped passes by his receivers that proved to be unreliable on the day.
A notable play actually came on the Derek Carr fumble that led to a touchdown. 36-year-old Terrell Suggs managed to out-run Marcell Ateman for the score, and the sight highlighted one particular frustrating aspect of this current receiving corps: lack of speed.
If you lack just enough speed to create separation from the defensive back, then there’s no chance Derek Carr will have a decent window to throw the ball to. The protection could be stellar and he could have all the time in the pocket, but if there’s no separation then there’s no passing attack, and we saw this against Baltimore.
