Quarterback

Derek Carr finished Sunday’s game with a 74.9 quarterback rating, though his struggles in the passing game were not entirely his fault. To his credit he once again finished without an interception thrown but did fumble the ball for a Ravens score. When he was able to escape the pocket and connect with his receivers there were positives to observe.

That’s been the recurring theme these past few weeks, “when” Carr is able to get a good look and make his progressions for a good throw. The injuries to the offensive line have made Carr run for his life on a weekly basis, and the receivers he currently has at his disposal have had ups and downs even when Carr gives them a great shot at making a play.

Despite what the box score shows, the struggles in the passing game should not all be placed on the shoulders of number four. He did have a fumble lost, but when he’s given enough time to make a play he’s proven reliable.

Grade: D+
