Bruce Allen

Given that Gruden is essentially the man in charge its easy to name off candidates with previous ties to the 100 million dollar head coach, and that starts with Bruce Allen. Allen and Gruden have both worked together during previous stints in both Oakland and Tampa Bay.

After both were let go in Tampa, it was Allen that found himself with the top football job with the Washington Redskins in the ensuing years, and he still finds himself with the team today as the Redskins team president. When the Redskins had a coaching vacancy in 2014, it was Allen that hired Jay Gruden to helm the team.

With the Redskins season essentially over and trending ever so downward in the face of injuries, Washington is in the midst of a lost season and could be looking for change at the top. If Allen finds himself out of Washington, he’ll most certainly be on the shortlist for the GM position in Oakland, where Gruden will ultimately have the final say on the hire.
