Cook’s quiet excellence

Amid a season to forget Jared Cook has been a quiet bright spot, and though the Raiders’ win totals read just three on the season Cook has played stellar as he’s proven to be Derek Carr’s go-to option in the passing game. Sunday was the same story as Cook continued to build on his excellent season.

Cook again led all receivers with 116 yards receiving by hauling in seven catches on ten targets. He’s proven to be Carr’s safety net and the chemistry they’ve built even through a losing season is noteworthy. Cook is having his best season of his career statistically and could be playing his way into high value coming into his subsequent free agency.

The hope is that Cook is brought back next season as fans surely want to see him in Silver and Black again. The Raiders are understandably looking to get younger as they evaluate the 31-year-old Cook, but he’s built a great chemistry with Carr that many would like to see again in 2019.
