Highlights
It was defense early and often for both teams as they forced key three-and-outs on the opposing initial drives to start the fourth quarter. Each defensive unit managed to snag a turnover as well, but the Bengals won the turnover battle in the first half, forcing two fumbles and recovering each.
Heading into the second half it was a matter of which team could break the stalemate and find the end zone to either extend the leads that Cincinnati was holding onto, or again mount a comeback that we’ve seen from the Silver and Black as of late. Daniel Carlson helped Oakland slowly chip away at the lead, with the score at one point reading 20-13.
In the end Joe Mixon on offense and Geno Atkins on defense helped the Bengals effectively put the game away for good, stopping the bleeding in their downward trending season and snapping a five game losing streak.
Here’s the highlights from the Raiders loss:
Derek Carr doesn’t see Sam Hubbard on the blindside as the Bengals force the fumble and recover.
The Raiders get the ball right back as Erik Harris snags a beautiful pick in the air for his first career NFL interception.
Jeff Driskel and Tyler Boyd connect for a seven yard touchdown pass that puts the Bengals on the board early.
The Bengals’ gamble pays off as Joe Mixon punches it in by just an inch for Cincinnati’s second touchdown of the day.
Lee Smith again! Three straight games with a touchdown as he and Derek Carr break the drought for the first points on the board for Oakland.
The story all game: the Raiders and Derek Carr could not withstand the Bengals pass rush, as Geno Atkins brings down #4.
